Mine’s Dark Angel..what was yours?

Thursday, June 23rd, 2005

Once under the stars, your butt permanently glued to the red, yellow or blue plastic stools (for another 2 hours at least), and your order of teh ais arrives, one can never avoid talking rubbish and discussing stupid issues to fill in the inevitable uncomfortable silence.

Shidi, Nizar, Senget, Rizal, Me, Arif, Che’ N and Emily are metophorically surgically attached by the arm when it comes to hanging out at mamak for 2 hours every night.

So,anyways, the usual, i started asking boring questions like what was the first movie they watched. All came up with freaky funny movie, one that never mirrors the real person they are today, but the funniest one has to be Shidi’s : ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ (no prize for guessing but what a waste of 4 bucks for a sissy cartoon!).

Arif’s was ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’. Not bad, but maybe because my favourite t-shirt when i was five was this yellow ninja turtle tee Ah Ma bought from  market. Sheesshhh…in those days, when Christian Dior was just a town near Rome, Emily and I had to be content with market products other than fish and dairy.

Me? i watched some real butt kicking movie entitled Dark Angel. If it is made in present days, then it would be classified as PG 18.

But i remember i had to sit on my mom’s lap coz i was too short for the seats…

The first of everything is special, regardless of how embarrassing it was.

Except for the first time i peed in my pants in primary.

Dante’s Inferno : I vouch for this book

Friday, June 17th, 2005

I admit it ; Arif reckoned i read a lot of literary rubbish, but this is the best of Dante Alighieri work. It’s actually an epic poem. Me, being a literature nut myself, didn’t undertstand half of the cantos in Dante’s Divine Comedy (which was divided into three parts; Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso), so i suggest you guys read the link below for better understanding.

click here for full interpretation of Dante’s Inferno

The Divine Comedy is the greatest poem of the Italian Middle Ages and is undoubtedly one of the cornerstones of world literature. Intertwined and embedded deep underneath in each canto are the tension between Christian and pagan values; questions of literary imitation and creation; the representation of the afterlife; questions of structure, order, and time.

What struck me most to keep reading Dante’s Inferno was how imiginative Dante was. From ‘casting’ Virgil (the famous Roman poet) as his guide in Hell, to ‘damning’ Prophet Mohammad into the 7th circle of hell (if i’m not wrong). Although it is astoundingly wrong to include a prophet into the lots of the ‘fallen’ ones’ (not a surprise anyway, he’s a devout Catholic), i must admit that apart from that, the entire work was brilliant. It’s a depiction of Christian’s afterlife, some critics called it.

Among other famous cast are Pope John Paul, Cleopatra, Prophet Mohamad, Homer, Brutus, and other names of rhetoric importance.

A word to other muslim readers, please bear in mind that this is a depiction of another creed’s afterlife. And also, please be broad minded and view this piece as a literary treasure.

Soul Food..:

Thursday, June 2nd, 2005

The reason i’ve been writing for quite a while now is because i’ve been fed with soul food, the words of encouragement given by people who visits my blog/profile on regular basis…I’m not THAT good, really, you guys are too kind…Hugs!

Emilia,
Aku terbaca poem kau dalam Star. Tahniah. Aku tak pernah baca ruangan tu (kalau pernah pun secara tak sengaja).Tapi poem kau pernah aku baca dalam profil kau - itu yang buat aku terus baca - I know it’s yours from the very begining. I like everything about you EXCEPT one - kenapa kita tiba-tiba terlalu jauh? I can’t even write you a testimonial to make you happy, I can’t call (or I just don’t want to) I can’t suprise you with any unexpected (whatsoever) what can I offer you, then?
Keep writing, EMILIA. I am your number one fan .

1st OF everything, I am shocked that you wrote so long in "about yourself". And after finish
reading your sentences, I am impressed. Unique way of expressing yourself, shout out what you
think.. Well, also dunno what the heck I am trying to say… Just a stranger like me would
like to shout out "WAY TO GO~!!" Hope you don’t mind if I tryin to share my oppinion, I think
what you see and understand quite a lot of things and that is good. Many people don’t
really use their eyes and ears to observe. BUT you haven’t really see from other anger yet…
Try so, maybe your thinking range will be wider, and not too elegent.. By the way, if you are
curious of where the hell this nuts turn in from, I am a friend of feelyp that hopping
through his page to yours.. Nothing much.. Ignore this if you want to….KPC only…
Cheers~!!

Can’t write long. i’m at work but i managed to read the bulletins you posted and i like them. i
do agree that we live in a world full of hypocritism and as you say it ‘fabricated
grandeur’. haven’t really given a thought about whether i am like that too sometimes : maybe
unconsciously.. but it doesn’t matter. i still like your writings anyway. keep it up! i might
not have to find a new novel yet at the moment if you have new such articles coming up. k,
gotta go.take care.chow.

Soul Vacation, anyone?

Wednesday, June 1st, 2005

Okay, here’s a quickie entry before i’m off to the cinema. Me watching Madagascar tonight, it’s another one of the ‘gang-hang-out’ thingy.

Anyone up for a soul vacation? I’m planning a trip to Bali, or maybe somewhere within Malaysia. Three days of beach, clear sky, and relaxation.

Anyone been to Bali? Then please recommend a good lodging ok?

Aight, be back around tennish!!
