Our New Crib’s gonna be so cool!

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

Saturday night and i’m at home doing online banking and smelling minyak angin that Mam is sniffing. Damn, she’s hooked on that stuff.

We are all excited about our new crib.

Ohhh….yes we are.

No more ass wipe to look at (Zaid), no more annoying 10 year old fat roll neighbour (yeah, man. He’s real fat) and most importantly, no more sharing house with people you hate!!!

Our new crib will be da bomb! I know a lot of people say that about their house, but i’m sure mine is to die for!

We looked at carpet today for the hall, and a runner for the hallway. The Persion rug seller was sorta cute (sorry hunney!) so we bought a big rug from him. I know, i shouldn’t be out buying persian carpet from cute Persian guy. I’m such a sucker!

596405512_179b4fa1ca_1King Kong will have a field day rolling on  the carpet, man! He loves carpet.

p’s: By the way, this is not King Kong. It’s just a picture of a black cat i found on the net. But then again, all black cats look the same. :P

An Open Letter to Malay Parents

Nurin’s Case a Flaw in Malay Community’s Parenting: an Open Letter to Malay Parents N_1nurin_1

Parents,

The gruesome killing of Nurin is a reality check to us all. The street is never safe for children.

When such thing happens, who is to be blamed?

The lack of security in the country, or the parents?

This case should serve as a wake up call to Malaysian, especially the Malays. As a Malay myself, I am aware and ashamed to say that Malay parents are nonchalant in parenting. Allowing their children on the streets at night is like sending a sheep into a lion’s den.

In my area alone, it is common to see children playing in the playground and riding their bicycle in groups after hours, sometimes as late as 12 midnight. Such is the upbringing of the Malays.

Trust in strangers or scoring zero in parenting skills?

You decide.

Never let your children out alone. Always accompany them to wherever they wish to go, even if it is just a walk to the playground.

The way Nurin was found tells us that the killer meant for the body to be found.

But why?

Some people harm your loved ones because they believe that would hurt the most. If you love your children, be kind to others, and make no enemies.

No children of such innocence should die this way. I beg you to wise up and protect them.

Getting Chummy with Miss Piggy

Friday, September 14th, 2007

It’s been so long!!!

Gimme a welcome back, peeps! J

I am back home in Bukit Jambul, spending some quality time with the family.

It’s now 11:00 pm, a windy Saturday night, watching The 70’s show and getting myself wet with Steven Hyde.

Yeap, Steven Hyde is HOT! I am also currently sipping peppermint tea after a strenuous 40 minutes cardio, and reading CLEO.

All this boredom aside, I am waiting for the rain to come. Yes, it’s quite windy now and the chill promises a good night sleep.

Earlier this week, my email was bombarded with pictures of tudung girls getting chummy with pigs. (see attached pic. Plenty of pictures from where it came from).

Yes mister, pigs as in the animal that ate poop in Noah’s ark.

The same animal that is haram in Islam.

There were mixed reaction to the pictures, really. Some liberal Muslims claim that it is alright for those girls (with or without tudung) to touch dogs and pigs as long as they samak (a ritual of washing the contact area seven times with water and mud) after touching the animals. Others shot back, saying we should not be making up excuses to touch the pigs, cute notwithstanding.

Haram is Haram (let’s write them in stones, shall we?).

My two cents?

These girls are veterinarian students for God’s sake! Islam is liberal in the sense that there’s always a way around it. If a Muslim had to be in contact with pigs and dogs, all they need to do is samak.

There is a huge different between Haram and Najis.

Eating pork is haram.

Touching pigs and doggies is Najis Besar (wow, those years in agama classes sure as hell paid off!)

It would be inhumane to deny pigs and dogs their rights to live because of religion now wouldn’t it?

That said, I feel it’s alright for the girls or Muslim veterinarian students to touch pigs and dogs.

What they did wrong was taking those pictures.

Can’t they be any more discreet?

Now, THAT’S a line even I won’t cross.

If you don’t respect your religion, who else would?

This might come off wrong but Happy Ramadhan to all my muslim hommies…although i know most of you guys are not fasting…hehehe

GODSPEED!
